Harvesting Blog Posts From Your Print Collateral

If you’ve created a brochure or flyer that helps people understand what your company does, you can often take that content and easily repurpose it into one or many blogs posts.

One of my favorite charities here in Tucson is the Sonoran Glass School. And they have a six page, tri-fold brochure that was created to tell us all about what they do. The very first page is titled Make Your Own Glass Art. You can make an ornament, a tumbler, a bowl, a vase, and so on.

All you have to do is grab one of the instructors and say, “Walk me through making an ornament in the Make Your Own part of the hot shop.” Easy. There’s one blog post. And you’ve got a list of several more items to cover, just on the first page.

Of course, there’s the About Us page, including information on all the community work they do. They have partnerships with colleges, public outreach, and youth programs. We could create a few blog posts about those as well. And we’ve still got four more pages to look over!

The beautiful part of a brochure, or even a newspaper article, is that you’ve already gone to the trouble of editing your information down to the most important essence of ideas. It will be easy for you to take an idea from it and expand it into a blog post for the week.
