5 Ways to Repurpose Your Podcasts
If you’re already creating and producing audio content, it’s wise to repurpose it in as many places as you can.
Website
This one seems obvious, but a lot of podcasters don’t have a web site, or they consider their podcast as some kind of separate entity. Putting your podcast on your website is the easiest thing you can do and it can be as simple as uploading the audio. You can just plug it in to WordPress so that your audience can hit a play button and easily access it.
iTunes
You can take it to another level by getting it on iTunes so that people can download it and listen to it every time another episode is released. There are some WordPress plugins that work quite nicely to execute this. Again, this one seems rather obvious.
SoundCloud
If you don’t want to have a podcast that lives on your website, you can use a service like SoundCloud. It’s an entirely different web property than yours, and they provide a place for a description of your audio. You can put a link in that description that will send listeners to your blog post or website. It also helps the search engines understand your website a little better.
The nice thing about SoundCloud is that it allows you to embed your audio on social media, like Facebook. It’s difficult to upload an mp3 file to Facebook, but SoundCloud is one the best ways I’ve found to do it.
YouTube
We’ve also had customers take their audio podcasts that we record for them and turn them into static videos on YouTube. You just put your logo or a picture of you as the static image and run the audio. It’s another way to share your content on multiple platforms.
Radio
Every city’s got an old AM radio station that plays news and information. All you have to do is call and ask them how much it would cost to run your 5-minute podcast as weekly, sponsored feature. I bet the cost will be surprisingly low. In fact, I’d be happy to call and negotiate that buy for you, if you need the help.
The beauty of creating content like we do at Shortcut Content is that you can repurpose it in several different ways. I’m happy to get on the phone and talk to you about it. If you need some help creating the content from the beginning, we can help you there, too.
