Write for People, Not SEO!

People who offer search engine optimization (SEO) services usually won’t tell you to show your human side unless they are very good at what they do. They prefer that you prioritize getting all the right keywords into your content. On the other hand, we believe that one of the best things you can do on your blog is make sure that readers understand:

  1. who you are
  2. where you come from
  3. and that you’re relatable.

We think that interviews of this type work especially well for certain kinds of clients.

You probably don’t think about lawyers on a daily basis, but they may be most suitable in this situation. In the popular AMC series Breaking Bad, attorney Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) does his own tongue-in-cheek TV ads where he talks about his services as a criminal lawyer. Saul illustrates the ideal type of person who benefits most from showing his humanness and talking about how he can solve a specific problem. Love him or hate him, he is effective.

Blog example of who you are and relateability

What if a customer’s goal is to set up a will or trust for children? A compassionate, caring person is what they are looking for—not a programmed robot that churns out documents. This kind of humanness can be clearly expressed in blog posts. In fact, most long-term business relationships would favor this kind of personable approach to blogging. On the other hand, distress relationships that are short-lived may be best suited for a different approach that solely illustrates their effectiveness. A DUI attorney might be a good example of content marketing and bogging for distressed purchases.

When creating content for blogs, we don’t think that the focus should be placed on creating as many keywords as possible for SEO. Instead, we think that you should show your humanness. Tell stories about your experiences and how you’ve helped your customers. That way, people will relate to you as a human being instead of as a pile of words that attempt to cater to Google’s algorithm.
